God Still Listens

Yesterday I left you with kind of a cliff hanger, waiting to hear from dad's doctors. I wasn't able to write last night again as I was busy being involved in a miracle. Why don't I start there:

If you are reading and a part of our lives you know that we have been concerned about Mordecai. Due to travel schedules and such a hectic life, we have not been able to give him the time and attention he needs and deserves. (Because for those of you who don't know Mordecai is a STELLAR dog!) Due to boredom he had started to tear things up in the house and it has been an ongoing battle for about a year. Read below to see a few of his funny stories. ANYWAY - About a month 1/2 ago I finally decided it was time to try and find a new home for Mordecai so I posted on Craigslist about how wonderful he was and the 3 scenarios I thought he would do well in. I was very specific. I was contacted by a lady named Dot. Dot was very interested in meeting Mort, but by that time I had lost heart and just couldn't do it. Well, with all the happenings of the last 3 weeks poor Mort has been left behind in the attention department and he acted out last week by chewing a hole in dad's fence. Needless to say this did not sit well with Pat or Dad. So, I reached out to Dot again to see if she was still interested. She was and we agreed to all meet last night.

Dot is an answer to prayer. I won't go into all the details about why this is such an amazing situation for everyone involved, but let me just say that God answered my prayers in every way and then some! It almost seems to good to be true. Dot even has investigated and wants to have Mort trained to be a therapy dog. She has MS and he will be trained to help her with tasks like picking up things she may drop or going to alert her next door neighbor if she needs help. This will be so wonderful for both of them!!! He is staying the weekend to see how they do. I have to resist the temptation to call every couple of hours to check in on them. Thank you God for hearing me and caring!

So, on to dad - The test results showed that there is some stuff going through his intestines. It is hard to monitor how much b/c the test was done via x-ray, but they believe it was an improvement over last week. So this morning they have turned off his G-tube and he will start to drink Ensure and see how he does. If he can drink the ensure 3 times a day and keep it down, there is a really good chance he will go home on Monday!!! Of course you know this is a real answer to prayer! So, we will be on pins and needles over the weekend hoping he is able to drink the Ensure and keep it down.

Be on the look out for the next praise report that announces his going home day!!!
