This is a quick update on Mordecai the Mighty. I picked up Mordecai from the vet today and aside from a small infection on his muzzle, he has no real injuries other than bruising. He will get lots of TLC and rest (and about 3 different pain killers and steroids) and will be good as new soon!
While he is still not jumping up and greeting with his normal spunk he was able to greet my nieces with a good healthy bark.

The Mighty Adventures of Mordecai
For those of you that know Mordecai you will not be surprised by his latest adventure. It was an overcast Tuesday and I was working in my office. I looked out the window and noticed the winds had picked up and thought to myself, I better go rescue Mordecai... For those of you who don't know Mordecai, he is a 70 pound lab/sharpei dog who is destructively afraid of thunderstorms when left alone.
As I am driving to the rescue I get a call from my father whom has gotten a call from one of the neighbors that Mordecai has already escaped out of the fence, but that they had put him back in. This added to the pressure to get home as quickly as possible.
As the Libby was pulling in the driveway, I see Mordecai squeezing himself out of the hole he has chewed in the fence. Now this may seem like no big deal EXCEPT that in order to keep him in the fence the neighbors have put a piece of heavy farm equipment in front of the gate to keep him securely in. In addition to the piece of farm equipment, there is a 7 foot board about 8 inches wide on the inside of the fence "blocking" the hole so he can't get out. Houdini himself would have had trouble getting out of this fence.
Needless to say this adventure has cost both Mordecai and I! Mordecai with a pretty bad scratch on his muzzle and I'm not sure what other kind of damage, and me with an impending vet bill and now a fence repair bill!
My fiance is being a good sport and trying to be supportive despite his dislike of as he likes to refer to him as "THE DOG."
As usual, never a dull day with Mordecai
